FERPAThe Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that prevents institutions from releasing certain information from a student’s record without his/her consent. Student records may include admission, registration, academic, financial aid and student account information.
As a condition of admission to the ADVANCE program, I understand I will be considered both a George Mason University, and Home Institution (as referenced above) student, with all the access and privileges of each institution.
Pursuant to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99),
- I authorize my educational records to be shared in the following ways:
I authorize George Mason University and Home Institution to jointly and separately maintain my educational records, in either or both institutions’ Student Information System.
- I authorize George Mason University and Home Institution access to educational records maintained at both institutions, including, but not limited to, admissions, registration, grades, financial aid, and student conduct.
- I authorize this release to continue in effect until my graduation from George Mason University, or my withdrawal from the ADVANCE program.
I understand: (1) I have the right not to consent to the release of my student records and information, (2) the information may be released orally or in written form, and (3) that I may revoke this consent at any time. Revocation of this release will result in my withdrawal from the ADVANCE program.
